Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is included in the course?
Our course includes both written and video materials, as well as mini-quizzes with immediate feedback. Please feel free to review as much or as little of the course as you like; the content is open and available, as we believe it is important to provide this content in the most convenient format possible. If you wish to print a certificate of completion, payment is only required at that time.
How long does it take to finish the course?
It takes most individuals about an hour to complete the course, although individual completion times will vary. You are welcome to study at your own pace, on your own schedule, without creating an account or providing any personal information. When you believe you are ready, you may take the final assessment and, once you have earned a passing score, you will then have the option to pay for the course and print a course completion certificate.
What is the cost to complete the course?
You are welcome to study the content on this site and take the mini-quizzes and final assessments at no charge. If you wish to print a certificate of completion, or have us email your employer or Human Resources Department with a statement of program completion, you are required to provide payment of $35.00 (or a promotion code assigned by your employer) through our secure credit card payment system.
Why should I participate in your course rather than complete training in person?
We believe that if you have the time and financial resources, participating in live training by a well-qualified and experienced professional is best. This is especially true for your first time being trained. However, if your schedule or finances don’t allow for in-person training, or if you have been trained before and simply need a refresher course, than this comprehensive on-line training course with both written and video content is a good option.
How long do I have to finish my course?
You do not need to have an account to use our site, and you have an unlimited amount of time to complete the course. Please feel free to learn from our site at any time, at your convenience.
Will my employer accept this course?
Our course is based on the content of the American Heart Association, and it is reviewed and revised as changes are made to their content. If you are uncertain as to whether your employer will accept the completion of our course as meeting your employment requirements, our recommendation is that you provide your employer with a link to our site. All of our content can be reviewed at no cost and in very little time, and your employer can provide you with the final word regarding the appropriateness of our course.
How long after passing the course will I receive my certificate of completion?
You will be able to print your certificate of completion as soon as you pass the end of course assessment and provide the appropriate payment information.
How do I print my certificate of completion?
You can print your certification after you finish the course and pass the final assessment with a score of 75% or better. At that time you will have the option to enter payment information in order to print your dated certificate of completion. Also, if you wish, you will be able to enter an email address to which we will send a confirmation of your course completion.
What if I fail the final assessment?
The score to pass the final assessment and have the option to print your certificate of completion is 75%. If you do not pass the final assessment, you will be directed to the content you need to review, and you may retake the test as many times as you wish.
How long is the certificate of completion valid?
The certificate of completion for our training for CPR, First Aid, and AED use simply indicates that you have successfully completed the course on a given date. You are welcome to come back and review the course at any time at no charge in order to maintain your knowledge of the content. If your employer has requirements related to updating your certification, then you might wish to pay again to receive an updated certificate of completion.
Can I skip the course and simply complete the final assessment and pay for my certificate of completion?
Yes, but it is not recommended. Basic Life Support for Teacher's primary goal is to provide important content in the most flexible format possible. In order to do that, we have made no attempt to institute safe guards against individuals who wish to avoid learning this life saving information. Although it is possible to take the final assessment repeatedly and eventually pass it without reading the content or viewing the high quality videos on this site, doing so would save only a modest amount of time at the cost of knowledge that could save the life of someone close to you. Thus, even if you are already familiar with CPR, First Aid, and the use of an AED, we strongly encourage you to review the content of the course; it will serve as an excellent refresher and ensure you are familiar with any recent changes in the content.
Do you provide a discount to groups or to school divisions?
Yes. Please send an email to staff@bls4teachers.com to discuss the options. The discounts for school divisions wishing to provide access to this training for teachers who need to meet recertification requirements can reduce the per-participant cost significantly depending on the number of teachers involved.
Payment Questions:
How do I get a receipt for my payment?
Your completion certificate serves as your receipt.
Do you have hard copy course materials available?
No, we do not provide hard copy course materials; our course is entirely online, and it protected by copyright.
Is your course American Heart Association (AHA) Certified?
We are not affiliated with the AHA, but our content is closely aligned to their guidelines. In addition, our primary content provider, Mr. Maurice Bruce, is an AHA Basic Life Support Instructor who has provided in-person training for thousands of individuals in his role as a firefighter/paramedic.
Can I be sued if I perform CPR or First Aid incorrectly?
In most states the Good Samaritan Law protects private citizens. As long as you are not a medical professional demonstrating gross negligence, the law protects you.
It says my payment cannot be accepted, what is the problem?
Most payment issues involve the incorrect identification of a Card Verification Code (CVC) or a Zipcode/Address mismatch.
